Thermostatic Radiator Valves
Thermostatic radiator valves are generally referred to as TRV’s. TRV’s are fitted to radiators to give you control of each room temperature. They are a true benefit in bedrooms or rooms that you do not regularly use, thus conserving energy and saving you money on your heating bill.
TRV’s use a sensor that measure the surrounding air temperature, some are liquid filled others use a wax. When they reach the required temperature they will push a pin down to close the valve and stop the flow of hot water to the radiator. It is not unusual for radiators in the home all to be of different temperatures to the touch, this is because they are regulating the room temperature.
There are many different styles of TRV head, some are available in chrome such as the Drayton TRV4. Radiator heads do not generally malfunction, though sometimes the pin can stick and may need careful easing with some pliers, heads are not brand interchangeable.
